Secured a private tour driver and took off through the city towards the famous Basilica de Guadalupe.
Was so so impressed by the Basilica, the old and the new cathedrals, and the fabulous shroud.
Had to sit through a 10 minute animated video in poor English about the background of the miracle on that site but even that was entertaining.
After that we took off outside of Mexico City about an hour and a half to the famous Teotihuacan site.
First stop there was to get an intro to the famous local agave cactus plant and a taste of some of its fabulous tequila. I tasted the worm.
Saw the ruins. Climbed an old temple or two. Then walked the 2 kilometers from one end of the road of the dead to the other.
Arrived at the massive Pyramide De Sol already worn out in the heat. And that climb was tough. Whew.
But I still decided it was necessary to climb the Pyramid De La Moon as well to complete the journey. Legs were wobbly.
Return exhausted and I’m totally sore but ready for another day of adventures tomorrow.
I stayed up late so I can be available for a call that didn’t really pan out so I am now watching Rocky in a hotel room. Remembering to “get strong now and hold on now” and make the most of life. It’s way too short.
I doubt even rocky could climb those pyramid steps and not be sore.
